Applications received after this date and time will not be accepted. FEES● Entry Fee: $60.00 (beauty, photogenic and awards for Best Dressed, Best Smile, Prettiest Hair and Prettiest Eyes). ● Checks / money orders must be made payable to DCOM Booster Club● General Admission Tickets: $5 (Contestants ONLY will have free admission as well as ONE chaperone with a wristband– no friends or family). PHOTOGRAPHS● Miss Photogenic: ONE (1) color, black-and-white or sepia photograph per contestant in a VERTICAL 5” x 7” size. ALL PHOTOS ARE DUE ON THE DEADLINE and must be dropped off at the Dance Center on Main in Wedowee, AL.  The contestant's name, category, and telephone number must be on the back of all photos. “THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS”● There will be 1 People’s Choice winner per category● Audience members may “vote” for their choice to win by paying $1 per vote. Votes for “The People’s Choice”Awards will be held in the lobby during the Pageant. Winners will receive a crown and sash.  -Rules-  ELIGIBILITY TO COMPETE● This pageant is open to anyone. No restrictions apply.● No monies will be refunded for any contestant failing to participate in Pageant activities. WARDROBE● All onstage competition will be in appropriate dress/evening wear/pageant attire or special occasion attire for boys. ● All attire must be in good taste and appropriate for the contestants’ age. PHOTOGENIC COMPETITION (FREE for all who enter beauty)Each contestant in the Photogenic Competition must submit a 5 x 7 vertical picture to be judged. Pictures may be color, black and white or sepia. Please label the back of the photo with the contestant’s name and category. The deadline for pictures is the same as the application deadline. PAGEANT DAY● The Miss Spring Queen will begin at 1:00 PM.  We will crown and take a very brief break before beginning each category. ● Contestants must have hair and makeup completed before arrival at Southern Union,  The contestants may only put their pageant dresses on in the dressing rooms. The only exception will be touch-ups for hair and make-up.● Only contestants and one pre-designated adult female chaperone are allowed in the dressing area. Anyone failing to comply will be asked to leave the pageant. No exceptions!● Absolutely no chaperones will be allowed on stage/side stage except the Baby Miss – Mini Miss Oxford contestants.● Optional photography will be available the night of the pageant. JUDGING● Appropriate dress/evening gown/pageant attire or special occasion attire for boys will be worn for stage competition.● All age divisions will be a beauty walk only.● All contestants will be judged on stage in the following categories: Overall First Impression, Stage Presence/Poise, Age Appropriateness/Attire, Beauty, Eye Contact and Smile.● ALL judges, auditors, masters of ceremonies, faculty, and others are our guests and will be treated with courtesy and respect. DRESSING AREA● All girl contestants may have ONE female adult chaperone (wearing an armband provided) assisting them in the girls’ dressing area. Once your child lines up to compete, you must leave the dressing area and be seated in the auditorium. No one is allowed backstage to watch the competition. (Exception Baby Miss- Mini Miss category to assist on stage)● No males are allowed in the girls’ dressing area at any time. ● The dressing area is for putting dresses on only. Hair/makeup must be done prior to arrival except for touch-ups.● Pageant volunteers will be in the dressing areas to assist contestants as needed throughout the Pageant.● It is very important that all persons remain as quiet as possible in the backstage and dressing room areas as sound carries easily in the auditorium. AUDITORIUM ● Absolutely no contestants are to be in the auditorium except when participating onstage. Before the Pageant contestants are to report directly to the dressing area to sign in and get their contestant number.● Cellular phones and other tech devices must be turned to silence/vibrate inside the auditorium for all attendees (including small children). Conversations must be kept to a minimum and at a whisper level. Parents/guardians should take children in distress out to the lobby where they will be more comfortable and less distracting. Be respectful of other contestants and attendees. ● Anyone, parent or contestant, guilty of any disruptive or rude behavior will be asked to leave immediately. This includes both the rehearsal and the Pageant. Refunds will not be provided in the event of rude or disruptive behavior. . AWARDS● The Miss Spring Queen Pageant features awards for the category winners and three alternates, Miss Photogenic in each category, and awards for Best Dressed, Prettiest Hair, Prettiest Eyes and Best Smile.● There will be a People’s Choice Winner for each category.
