Jefferson County, WV, is home to a number of homes built by the Washington family. George Washington surveyed the area as a young man, and encouraged his siblings and step-siblings to acquire land in the region. This is a rare opportunity to see inside the ground levels of four of the homes owned by his relatives: Beallair, Claymont, Happy Retreat, and Harewood. Learn about the histories of these homes, their occupants, and their restorations.&nbsp; Children 12 and under are free, but must register in advance and be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.&nbsp; Please note that tickets are not refundable. Please be aware that any tickets purchased on the day of the tour&nbsp;will be $40 per adult, and must be paid for with exact cash. Credit sales will not be available. The homes are not ADA accessible, and contain stairs and uneven surfaces. This tour is not advisable to people with mobility issues and is not accessible by wheelchair or stroller. Strollers may be parked at the front of each house. There is a no refund policy. The Washington Homes are unfortunately not ADA accessible. Being built in the 18th and 19th centuries, they have many stairs and uneven surfaces. They are not recommended for visitors with mobility issues and cannot be explored in a wheelchair or with strollers. Strollers can be parked outside of the homes.
