Beta Bust: A Midwest Women&#39;s Climbing Gathering was born from a lunch at the Access Fund Midwest Summit in 2019 as a way for more women climbers in the area to network and build partnerships. The 2026 event will be held August 21-23 at Skillet Creek Campground in Baraboo, WI. Camping at our large group site is included in your event registration.&nbsp; Climbing is available at Devil&#39;s Lake (traditional lead climbing, top rope, bouldering; 15 minutes away), Hillbilly Hollow (traditional &amp; sport leading with a couple top access climbs; 45 minutes North), or Necedah (traditional &amp; sport leading with R-rated scrambling to top rope on a few, 45-60 minutes Northwest). We will also partner with Apex Adventure Alliance to offer guided top rope climbing and skills clinics just for our group! These will be a separate fee from the event and you will pay Apex directly. A great introduction to toproping at Devil&rsquo;s Lake and transitioning to operating independently. At the end of the day, students will be able to safely, confidently, and efficiently construct a Joshua Tree Toprope Anchor using natural features.&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><a fr-original-style="" href="https://apexadventurealliance.as.me/schedule/f11ccd0e/?appointmentTypeIds[]=91572562" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Traditional Anchors Review + Open Climb</a> (Sunday): This will be a great way to test some newly learned skills with supervision and for the whole group to get out and enjoy the day together. After meeting with the guides, the group will split into two sections. Folks who will just be climbing will gear up and head to the bottom of the crag. Folks who will be constructing anchors will join guides and head to the top of the crag to build some of the anchors that the group will climb on for the day. We will enjoy an awesome day of climbing to end the weekend.&nbsp;</li></ul>These are strongly encouraged if you are coming alone, do not have outdoor climbing experience, or do not set your own traditional anchors.
