About Arvian Heidir:
Arvian Heidir (she/her) is a Sunnyvale-based photographer born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. The daughter of a Minangkabau mother from a matrilineal culture and a Javanese father shaped by patriarchal tradition, she draws on the tension between these two traditions to inform her photographic work. After spending 25 years in the tech industry, Heidir turned seriously to photography. Working in both digital and film, she focuses primarily on portraiture and personal projects.

About Claire Maen:

About Harvey Castro:
A documentary photographer and multidisciplinary artist based in Oakland and Mexico City, Casto’s work explores the intersections of community, climate change, migration, and identity. His experience of fleeing war-torn Nicaragua as a child, followed by a 20-year career in operations and software management before turning to photography in 2018, deeply informs their perspective on displacement and resilience. Their projects document communities navigating environmental and social challenges, from the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico to the effects of algal blooms and drought at Oakland’s Lake Merritt.
At the heart of Castro’s practice is a commitment to bearing witness and honoring the stories of people facing climate change, migration, and systemic challenges. Arthur Tress: San Francisco 1964 presents for the first time a collection of pictures the photographer took in 1964 as a young man newly arrived in San Francisco. That summer the city was ground zero for a historic culture clash as the site of both the 28th Republican National Convention and the launch of the Beatles' first North American tour.
The resulting photographs reveal a theme familiar to Tress’s many fans: the intersection of the absurd and the mundane. Formally posed portraits on the streets of San Francisco as well as candid views of shop windows, signs, and other idiosyncrasies of the local landscape capture the vibrant scene in the Bay Area at the dawn of a chaotic era.

About Arthur Tress:
Tress (b. 1940, Brooklyn, New York) began photographing as a teenager, exploring the decaying amusement parks of Coney Island. After several years traveling through Asia and Africa, he developed an interest in ethnographic photography and later documented endangered folk cultures in Appalachia for the U.S. government. His early documentary work addressing environmental degradation and New York City’s neglected waterfront gradually evolved into a distinctive style of “magic realism,” blending observed life with staged fantasy.
In the late 1960s, his acclaimed series on children’s dreams drew on ritual, Jungian archetypes, and social allegory, followed by work exploring adult relationships and male homosexual desire. In the 1980s, Tress turned to color photography and constructed elaborate installations and narrative still lifes using found objects and theatrical settings. Around 2002, he returned to gelatin silver photography, combining spontaneous observation with modernist architectural composition and abstraction. His more recent work includes photographs of California skateboard parks and the formally inventive series Planets and Pointers.
Tress resided in Cambria, CA, for 25 years, and now lives in San Francisco.

About Jeanne Hansen
Jeanne bought her first camera at ten with money earned from picking strawberries in Skagit Valley, Washington where she was born and raised. Trained at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara for one year then transferred to San Francisco Art Institute and in 1982 received a B.F.A. in Photography. During the 1980’s she lived and worked in the Bay Area, contributed to the social and political movements of the day through her photography with work published in local magazines and neighborhood newspapers. Her more personal projects were exhibited in alternative galleries and illustrated her mission to push back boundaries and explore the counterculture and her vision.

About Jenny Sampson:
Jenny Sampson, born and raised in San Francisco, is a Berkeley-based photographer. She earned a B.A. in Psychobiology in 1991 at Pitzer College and has since dedicated her time to her photographic endeavors. Sampson’s focus is with wet plate collodion (tintypes), traditional black and white photography, and commissioned portraiture. Ken Light is an acclaimed documentary photographer whose work has appeared in books, magazines, exhibitions, films, and collections worldwide. He is the Reva and David Logan Professor of Photojournalism and curator of the Center for Photography at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism. Light has also taught at institutions and photography programs across the U.S. and internationally, including the International Center of Photography, the Missouri Photo Workshop, and the San Francisco Art Institute. Throughout his career, he has been committed to supporting and advancing documentary photography and visual storytelling. About Mimi Plumb:
Mimi Plumb is a socially engaged photographer whose work explores the landscapes, communities, and changing environment of California and the American West. A 2022 Guggenheim Fellow, she has published six monographs, including Landfall, The White Sky, The Golden City, The Reservoir, which examines drought and extreme heat in California and most recently Blazing Light. In 2026, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta presented the first major solo exhibition of her work, spanning photographs from the 1970s through 2025, accompanied by the monograph Blazing Light. Her photographs are held in major collections including SFMOMA, LACMA, the High Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and Yale University Art Gallery.
