CMC’s innovative REMS/Remote Rescue Workshop is an intensive 4-day training that goes beyond the traditional techniques taught in rope operations and technician courses. This comprehensive class introduces students to Rapid Extraction Module Support (REMS) concepts and focuses on scenarios involving challenging and hazardous environments. Students are given hands-on experience with alternative rope rescue tactics and strategies and learn to employ lightweight equipment not typically found in a standard rescue cache. Our REMS scenarios are designed to stretch students’ capabilities, providing them with the skills necessary to navigate demanding situations. This course is also designed to meet the specific requirements and intent of FIRESCOPE ICS 162-4 (2024) and NWCG PMS 552.
CMC School developed this course based on our instructors’ active involvement in FIRESCOPE, firsthand experience in REMS field deployments, and extensive technical expertise in mountain rescue. Our objective is to contribute to the expansion of qualified REMS teams, ultimately improving the protection and support provided to firefighters.
