Join us from 4-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 for a reception at the Zenner House — prior to our Possum Promenade — as we gather to celebrate those who've made the Athens County Independent possible. 

This reception is limited to contributors to the Athens County Independent's Founders Campaign, as well as members of the Publishers Circle. The Founders Reception will include champagne, snacks, speeches and discussion as we reflect upon the Independent's past, present and future. 

The Possum Promenade will feature locally sourced food and beverages, live music, speakers and more — all at the Zenner House. Gather to celebrate your support and the successes of Southeast Ohio Independent News and its mission to bring accessible, sustainable journalism to Appalachian Ohio. Musical acts include local bluegrass/folk groups the Corndoggers and Lazy Susan. Our headliner, the Possum Queens, are joining us from Lexington, Kentucky!

By registering here, you do not need to purchase a ticket for the Possum Promenade; your $40 registration is your ticket to both the Founders Reception and main event. Your ticket includes two complimentary beverages during the Possum Promenade.

Accessibility is limited at the Zenner House, especially indoors, where one to three stairs separate each room. The event will largely take place outside. Most seating will be under a tent on the lawn. Entering the lawn from the back entrance of the venue requires navigating a short but rather steep slope (stairs available); or, via the front entrance, steps from the sidewalk up onto the front lawn.Zenner House staff will be available to guide people who use mobility devices around the property.
