Taking place from Monday, February 10 to Friday, February 14, 2025, this retreat offers an opportunity to engage deeply in Zen Koan practice under Minakawa Roshi’s guidance, with Hashinkyūji (arrival) scheduled for Sunday, February 9. Following the Sesshin, on Saturday, February 15, we will conduct the Nirvana Ceremony commemorating Buddha’s death, concluding with a celebratory reception. This Sesshin continues our valued Dharmic connection with Minakawa Rōshi, cultivated over the past decade. Kiryūken Minakawa Shōkyū Rōshi, abbot of Zuiryū-ji and founder of Sapporo Zen Center in Hokkaido, Japan, trained rigorously at Zuigan Sōdō in Matsushima, the monastery where Rinzai-ji's founder Jōshū Rōshi practiced.
