Rays the Barr Foundation

Choose this option if you are a competitive, advanced swimmer, member of a swim team, etc. You will swim in the upper pool (25 yards) without support of a flotation device. You will have 60 minutes to swim as many laps as you can. (You do not need to swim the whole time, rest breaks are allowed)

Advanced/Competitive Swimmers

Choose this option of you are not a strong swimmer, need to use a flotation device, just wants to participate for fun and to support our cause. You will swim in the lower pool (20 yards). You will have 45 minutes to swim as many laps as you can. (You do not need to swim the whole time, rest breaks are allowed)

Less experienced/Leisure swimmers

Rays the Barr Foundation was founded in memory of Raylan Barr whose life was cut way too short due to a swimming accident in 2023. We have made it our mission to prevent further tragedies of this nature in our community by providing children and families access to affordable swimming lessons, personal flotation devices, and other water safety education. The funds raised via this swimming challenge will be used to support the mission and our giving plan. Operation Ripple Effect is open to swimmers of all ages and experience levels, however you should have basic swimming ability and be able to swim at least one lap of a pool unassisted.  We will have 2 experience levels – one for more advanced/competitive swimmers and one for less experienced/leisure swimmers. <ul><li style="width:100%;margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;box-sizing:inherit">Advanced/Competitive swimmers will have 60 minutes to swim as many laps as they can. </li><li style="width:100%;margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;box-sizing:inherit">Less Experienced/Leisure swimmers will have 45 minutes to swim as many laps as they can.<ul><li style="width:100%;margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;box-sizing:inherit"> We will allow the use of flotation devices such as kick boards, life jackets, noodles, etc in the pool for less experienced swimmers. </li></ul></li></ul>Registration Fee is $25 per swimmer. By registering, all swimmers are encouraged to raise at least $100 of pledges or sponsorships from family and friends by utilizing the provided online platform or the paper form. We are only accepting flat rate donations, not per lap donations. All funds are due prior to your scheduled swim time on April 20, 2024.  All swimmers registered by April 1, 2024 will receive an event t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded for swimmers that swim the most laps per age group/pool category. We will also have prizes for the swimmer that fundraises the highest amount (all funds are due prior to your swimming time on April 20, 2024).
