STEPHEN PETRONIO SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE 2023

STEPHEN PETRONIO SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE 2023

for dancers ages 15 and Up, featuring SPC technical training and Petronio Repertory Sessions

Directed by Stephen Petronio & SPC Education Team

Monday – Friday | June 5 - 9, 2023

10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Class Description

Petronio technique focuses on the conscious direction of energy through the body and out into space. These master classes feature technique and creative engagement with Stephen Petronio Company language. Each class begins with a somatic warmup focused on skeletal connectivity and activating the far edges of the body. Across-the-floor movement expands on ideas of spatial awareness, rhythm, and intricate sequencing through the spine. Each dancer is encouraged to find holistic, authentic, and fearless mobility within their body. Stephen will build a new movement on students with an eye toward new work. This unpacking of the choreographic process gives students a host of tools for their work as dancers and dancemakers.

Continual attendance is encouraged, but drop-in's welcome.
