Pair of hand-built ceramic canisters from stoneware and porcelain, functional holders of little things. Emily Rosen (they/she) has been handling clay for over 20 years. While studying painting at Hunter College in New York, they quickly became infatuated with the material and changed their concentration to ceramics. These canisters represent Em’s return to clay works after a long struggle with congenital spinal issues, failed surgeries and limited mobility. Those challenges will continue to oscillate for life, but fortunately now Em is in a period of recovery and managing well physically. Now, they aim to work to grow as a ceramic artist, and to help make the world better for disabled people. This is a hand formed and painted stoneware plate reflecting an autumnal mountain valley landscape. Plate measures approximately 7 inches wide with 1 inch lip. Food safe. Dishwasher safe though washing by hand is recommended. Originally trained as a painter, Pauline Wolstencroft creates hand-formed ceramic pieces which she decorates using a combination of underglazes, stains, and glazes.
