Our monthly Dharma discussions are always preceded by silent meditation (Zazen) as well as chanting of the Sutras. Each week a senior monk will offer a Dharma talk on a wide variety of buddhist topics. This week Sensei Emyo will offer a teaching titled:  REMEMBERING BODHIDHARMA- Bodhidharma seems to be an enigma of sorts…at least, to probably most of the people who encountered this larger than life individual. He is the First Zen Patriarch being attributed with bringing buddhism from India to China. His stories seem a bit more like folklore than truth but what we do know is that his teachings were powerful… enough so to re-plant Buddhism in the East begging with the Shaolin Monks. His teaching was this: Zen is a special transmission outside the scriptures, no dependance on words and letters, a direct pointing to the human mind and the realization of Buddhahood. These four points do not stand along but are interconnected.
