We have been established since April of 2020. It is in memory of my son, Houston. Our non-profit has served over 1,383 NICU families. The NICU stands for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This unit is dedicated to babies that are born prematurely, had difficulties during birth, or any other life-threatening conditions. 1 in 10 babies will be born premature. Being in the NICU can lead to long extended stays in the hospital after birth. In some tragedies, the critical babies never make it out of the NICU. Long stays in the hospital can be emotionally and financially devasting. The average cost of a NICU stay is in the thousands. This is not including possible medical care after your baby graduates from the hospital. Houston&#39;s Lift Off provides items such as gas gift cards, food gift cards, baby books, baby blankets, hygiene items, catered meals, providing craft supplies, equipment for the NICU, etc. We try to help with anything that a NICU family may need. Our mission is to show the NICU families they are not alone. We want to bring comfort during a time of uncertainty. This past year we launched a partnership with DoubleTree-Hilton in downtown Canton, Ohio. In that partnership we formed a special program called the Houston&#39;s Landing Program. We sponsor hotel reservations for NICU families that meet certain requirements. So, far we have provided 30 nights of rest for these NICU families. Born at just 25 weeks, Houston spent 4&frac12; months in the NICU before gaining his angel wings. His strength, his spirit, and the way he touched every life around him became the foundation of our mission. Through him, we learned what NICU families truly need: comfort, support, and the assurance that they are not walking this journey alone.
