FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. The 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills. Participants are eligible for up to $80,000,000 in scholarships.
Huntington County 4-H Robotics Team 1501 T.H.R.U.S.T. is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team of 7th-12th grade youth and their mentors. Our members learn design, teamwork, problem-solving, CAD, manufacturing, and programming skills by designing and building a 125 pound robot to compete in 3-6 events between January and April and participating in community events like the 4-H fair. We earned one award and won one event in our 2023 season, finishing in 6th place overall amongst Indiana's 60+ teams. We have 25+ dedicated industry professionals who volunteer their time to teach the next generation critical skills; the mentors and students spent over 4,000 hours in the workshop in 2023.
