People's Chorus October 2024 Concert - A New Dawn

Introducing Champaign-Urbana's newest vocal ensemble, the CU Sings: People's Chorus!  This vibrant community ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Frank Gallo, aims for inclusivity and a high level of vocal performance.  


The ensemble's premiere concert, A New Dawn, will feature works by prominent women composers on themes of hope, renewal, and unity.  The program will include:

  • "Alleluia" by Elaine Hagenberg
  • "Ubi Caritas" by Ola Gjeilo
  • "I Thank You God" by Gwyneth Walker
  • "Holding the Light" by B. E. Boykin
  • "Apple Tree," made famous by Aurora and arranged by Katerina Gimon

In the spirit of joyous collaboration, the concert will also include performances by Amasong, Champaign-Urbana's premier lesbian/feminist chorus, and the Unitarian Universalist Church Choir of Urbana-Champaign.


When: Saturday, October 19th at 3:00 p.m.  Doors open at 2:30 p.m.
