These shirts will be used for our Bulldog Jog as well throughout the school year! Please order by August 29th to guarantee size, orders can be accepted after this date though.  We ask at this time to only order one shirt per student and for students only please.  Additional spirit wear sale are to come. Your student will remain in the same house throughout their time at Grant, so shirts can be reused each school year. Shirts are true to size. Dear Grant Families,                   Last year we adopted a new initiative called the house system, modeled after the well-known Ron Clark Academy. Staff members and students became a part of one of the eight houses: Amistad (red), Altruismo (black), Reveur (blue), Isibindi (green), Sollevare (gold), Nukumori (purple), Protos (teal), or Onraka (orange). Throughout the year, students’ personal accomplishments (academic and behavioral) are rewarded with points that collectively count toward his/her house. We have house “huddles” throughout the year where we discuss their house’s characteristics, where our top point earners from each house are recognized. Also, our top point earners and students of the month are recognized and get a chance to spin the wheel to earn bonus points for their house during our monthly house assemblies.                   In this house system, students get an opportunity to make individual contributions to their house each and every day. This system promotes a sense of healthy competition, encourages students to learn how to be team players, teaches students how to contribute their efforts toward a group, and that those who work hard and stick with it are often the ones rewarded. It allows Grant Elementary to build a school-wide community and create a culture of belonging where every staff and student is a part of something. We do this all while having fun!                  Parents can download the RCAHousePoints app and view their child’s accomplishments. A letter with the code to access your child’s information will be sent home. You may purchase a house t-shirt for your child. These can be worn on house color days (minimum of once a month) and any other time desired. Your student will remain in this house while they are at Grant. We suggest you order a little bigger so they can wear the shirt beyond this year. We will offer to purchase again later in the year and in future school years. Families  not interested in purchasing house shirts can simply wear their house colors on the designated days to show their house spirit just as well!
