For any questions please contact Jordan Peyton, Director of Assessment and Evaluation at <a href="mailto:assessment.evaluation@maasu.org">assessment.evaluation@maasu.org</a>. --- Midwest APIDA Student Union (MAASU) Spring Conference is a conference that will convene 500 students from various Midwest campuses to engage in workshops, networking, and community-building, centered around Asian American issues, identities, and advocacy. This year, MAASU's Spring Conference will take place on Friday, April 5th to Sunday, April 7th. We invite you to join us for a weekend filled with engaging guest speakers, educational workshops, and entertaining group activities. The conference theme is "Transforming Our Futures: Storytelling and the Pathway towards Generational Change & Healing”. This theme suggests a focus on the power of storytelling as a tool for bringing about positive change and healing in individuals, communities, and societies across the world. It also acknowledges the importance of recognizing and addressing the traumas and injustices that have been experienced by previous and current generations and the impact these will have on future generations. In addition, it highlights the potential for storytelling and empathy to be a means of empowering individuals and communities to take action toward creating a more just and equitable future. We have drawn this theme from previous campus-wide Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Months as the community members have been able to engage in various manners. From low-stakes conversations to creative celebrations, our hope is to draw in students and community members to understand what moments have shaped their stories. Through having a space for students to share their stories at the reception dinner, reflections in conversation with one another, and a well-being break that prioritizes healing, we want everyone to leave with something to reflect on.
