During your one-hour, hands-on tour, you’ll hike through Stratford’s beautiful forest, learn how to identify sugar maples and tap a tree yourself! When you arrive at the Sugar Shack, you’ll taste a sample of freshly collected sap, watch the sugar cookers work their magic and observe the evaporation process up close, then taste a sample of that sweet liquid gold. Local maple syrup will be available for purchase afterwards. Tours last approximately one hour, departing every half hour, and require participants to walk about 3/4 – 1 mile on even terrain. The final tour departs at noon.

What to ExpectTours are outside, last approximately 1 hour and require participants to walk about 3/4 - 1 mile on uneven terrain.  What to WearThe large majority of this tour is outdoors, please dress accordingly for the weather.  The trails can sometimes get especially muddy this time of year.  Be sure to wear boots that can get muddy.  We have some rain boots available for borrowing, but sizes are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.  SyrupPure, local maple syrup will be available for purchase after your tour to make for a delicious breakfast the next morning (or breakfast for dinner)! Weather PolicyThis is a rain or shine program.  Please dress for the weather.  In the event of extreme or unsafe weather we will cancel and/or reschedule if possible.  We will notify you of any cancellations.  Cancellation PolicyIf you need to cancel for any reason you have a couple of options:1. Notify us at least two weeks in advance of your cancellation and donate your registration fee - we will send you a donation acknowledgement letter for tax purposes 2. Notify us at least 2 weeks in advance and request a refund. Refunds take 5-10 business days to process. Cancellations less than 2 weeks prior to your tour are not eligible for a refund, but please let us know so we can plan accordingly.  Cancellation notices should be e-mailed to business@stratfordecologicalcenter.org.
