Keep History Alive in Miamisburg! I am writing today because I need your help to preserve a piece of Miamisburg history. The Baum Opera House, originally known as the Star City Opera House, has stood as a witness to the life and history of Miamisburg. Built in 1884, it was constructed by German immigrant and businessman, Charles Baum. It was one of the finest opera houses in Ohio and, with a seating capacity of 800, was the largest opera house between New York City and the Mississippi River. The Baum Opera House still stands today and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Growing up in Miamisburg, I can remember passing by this building wondering about the history behind it and those who patronized this place over a century ago. As one who believes in maintaining Miamisburg History, as well as supporting the Performing Arts, I’m hosting a fundraising event to help raise money for the Opera House’s building repair fund.
