WSCF's ChessKid virtual tournament season is October 27, 2024 - March 9, 2025. Games are on Sundays, beginning at 5:00 pm with five round G15 in two divisions, U1000 and Open. There will be no tournament games on December 1, 22, or 29. There will be two "practice" weeks to open the season. October 13th and October 20th will be your player's chance to practice logging on, accessing the tournament, and playing for fun. The October 13th and October 20th games will NOT count towards the virtual season scoring for awards. ABOUT THE DIVISIONSThere will be two divisions, U1000 and Open. The U1000 division will start at 5:00 p.m. and the Open division at 5:15 p.m. Players with ChessKid fast chess ratings below 1000 may enter either division. Players with ratings 1000 and higher may only enter the Open division. WSCF requires at least four participants for the tournament to take place. If the U1000 division does not go then players can sign up for the Open division before 5:15 p.m. Sandbagging will not be allowed. Here’s how you join in on the fun!Players can take part in the tournaments with just the free basic ChessKid memberships and do NOT need to be a current member of an organized chess club group.
