Join Nadene Maireese of Idyllwilde on Saturday, August 10th from 10am - 2pm (with 15 minute coffee and snacks break, and half-hour lunch break) for an workshop introduction to Indigo and Botanical Textile Prints.
In this 4 hour workshop we’ll be combining two natural dye techniques to create botanical textile prints. We’ll review the origins and many applications of indigo dye as you learn various “ resist” techniques such as folding and clamping to create patterns on your indigo-dyed cotton fabric. We’ll then layer foraged plants, and flowers from the Idyllwilde Dye Garden over our indigo print and steam print the botanicals onto fabric. You’ll leave the workshop with your printed cotton textile and loads of knowledge to set up your own organic indigo vat and make botanical prints at home.
