This lighthearted debut comedy written and directed by Kirk Jones tells the story of a national lottery winner, Ned Devine, who is so taken by his good fortune that he dies from the shock of it! News of Ned's win spreads quickly in his quaint village of Tully More, but not the news of his demise. With lottery officials closing in to confirm the prize-winner, Ned's friends scheme to keep the money close to home. But as the plot twists, they learn it is hard to keep a secret in a small town. Waking Ned Devine received the BAFTA Award for the Most Promising Newcomer for Jones. 

Prior to the screening, guest speakers Dr. Cathal Pratt, Irish Cultural Studies expert from Fordham University, and Caoimhe Nic Giollarnáith, Irish Language and Literature Adjunct Professor at Lehman College, CUNY and native of County Kildare, will present an historical introduction and lead a post-screening discussion.
