Join us for a one-hour virtual event on Thursday, March 28, 2024, 7-8pm, on Zoom.

This will be our introduction and orientation for an exciting new series for 2024: Botanical Surveys at Stable M! “Stable M” is a 73-acre property full of woodlands and other high-quality natural areas. Botanical Belonging is on a mission to catalog all(!) the diversity this site holds, and we want your help! Come with us to learn how to identify plants, explore different habitats, and record your observations with the app iNaturalist — and explore this awesome place!

Participants in the botanical surveys must have a smartphone with the iNaturalist app downloaded (or collaborate with a partner). We recommend downloading the app and creating an iNaturalist account before the orientation on 3/28. That way, if you run into trouble, we can help.

At this orientation, Patti will tell us more about this special place, its history, and what we might find there. Then, special guest Anna Funk (our board president) will walk us through how to download and set up your app, as well as how you can use it to identify plants, record your observations, and view others’ observations at the site!

This presentation will be recorded, but we encourage you to come so we can troubleshoot your questions as we go.

Stable M is located less than 5 minutes from Botanical Belonging and our field foray events begin at that location in April. Botanical surveys will be on the second Thursday of the month, April-October, 6-8pm, with a virtual wrap-up event with our results Thursday November 14, 7-8pm on Zoom.
