Join the 7th Annual Thanksgiving Community Service Project 🦃 Since 2019, the Kappa Detroit Foundation has brought together community partners, volunteers, businesses, faith-based organizations, and public-sector leaders to help Detroit families celebrate Thanksgiving with dignity. On Saturday, November 21, 2026, we will continue that tradition with our 7th Annual Thanksgiving Giveaway Community Service Project at the Kappa Detroit Foundation Development Center, 6900 Sylvester Street, Detroit, MI 48207. This year, our goal is to raise $15,000 to provide 500 families with turkeys and non-perishable food items for their Thanksgiving meals. Volunteers are an essential part of making this initiative successful. All volunteers are asked to arrive at 9:00 AM for breakfast snacks, fellowship, volunteer assignments, and final preparation. Food distribution will begin promptly at 10:00 AM, and we anticipate concluding by approximately 1:00 PM. We ask volunteers to commit to the full 9:00 AM&ndash;1:00 PM service period to help us provide a consistent, organized, and welcoming experience for the families we serve.&nbsp; Volunteers may assist with preparing food packages, managing traffic and distribution flow, loading turkeys and groceries into vehicles, greeting families, cleanup, and other event-day responsibilities.
