Last year's event was cancelled due to smoke, so we really want to make this one special.<br /><br />This year we will be working in partnership with the Seattle Celtic Foundation for the first time. <span>All proceeds from the day will be going towards the Foundation.</span><br /><br /><span><strong>The Seattle Celtic Foundation is a newly formed 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to enabling all Seattle Celtic youth players to pursue their full potential in soccer regardless of financial background. To this end, the primary area we will be focused on supporting is for players whose teams are playing in travel events, but who don't personally have the means to participate</strong></span><span><br /></span><br />This has been one of our favorite days on the calendar for the past 11 years and we are looking to make this one our most epic.  <span>If this is your first Community Day check out our Story Highlights on our Instagram page from last year for a taste of what to expect!</span></div><p style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;box-sizing:inherit"><span></span></p><div> </div><div>As with previous years, it will feature:</div><p></p><div><ul><li>7 v 7 Tournament (2 age brackets/divisions)<span><p style="box-sizing:inherit"><br /></p><ul><li><span>Crossbar Challenge</span></li><li><span>Penalty Shootout</span></li><li><span>Juggling Competition</span></li><li><span>Players vs Coaches game</span></li><li><span>Old Soccer Cleat Donation Box</span></li><li><span>Pot-Luck </span></li></ul></span></li></ul></div><p style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;box-sizing:inherit"><span></span></p><div><strong><u><br /></u></strong></div><div><strong><u>7 v 7 Tournament Information</u></strong></div><div><br /></div><p></p><div><span>The central focus of the day will be an inter-club tournament </span>where the kids play 7 a-side games against each other.</div><p style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;box-sizing:inherit"><span></span></p><div><strong><u><br /></u></strong></div><div>The age groups for the tournament will be divided as follows:</div><div><ul><li>2016 - 2013 (Champions League)</li><li>2013 - 2011 (World Cup)</li></ul></div><div>We only have space for a limited number of players so the sooner we're notified of your child's interest, the better chance they have of getting a spot for the tournament. In the past we have had 12 teams of 7 players in each age group (so 24 teams and 168 players altogether). This year we could probably manage 28 - 32 teams between both age groups but that would be our absolute max capacity.</div><p style="box-sizing:inherit"><br /></p><p></p><p style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;box-sizing:inherit"><span></span></p><div><u><strong>Wednesday, August 14 at 6pm is the deadline for responding (unless the tournament fills up before then).</strong></u></div><div><br /></div><div>Our aim in terms of team placement is to make things as even as possible to ensure we have some exciting match-ups and every team will get at least two games!</div><div><br /></div><div>Group stage games will run until 4:30pm at which point we will have established which teams have progressed to the knockout stages. There will be a break in play for the coaches vs players games, before the conclusion of the tournament which runs from 5:30 - 6:30pm.</div><div><br /></div><p></p><div><span>We will email the line-ups, brackets and game schedule on the morning of Friday</span> August 18th.</div><div><br /></div><div>We would encourage all participants in the tournament, who don't progress to the next stage, to stay on and give your support to teams who make the knockout stages (as well as staying to cheer the coaches on in their games!).</div><p style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;box-sizing:inherit"><span></span></p><div><br /></div><div><strong><u>Coaches Vs Players</u></strong></div><div><br /></div><div>As in previous years, we have had two coaches versus players games. Game 1 (4:40 pm kick-off) will feature the coaches vs the G06/07 GA team, with the coaches taking on the B06/07 EA team in game 2 at 5:05pm.</div><div><br /></div><div><strong><u>Open To Everyone</u></strong></div><div><br /></div><div>For players whose age groups aren't featured in the tournament, we'd still love to see you down at Magnuson! The penalty kick, crossbar challenge and juggling competition are open to all age groups and we have some cool prizes for the winners of those events. </div><div><br /></div><div><strong><u>Pot-Luck</u></strong><br />We will also be supplying drinks and snacks but thought it might be a nice idea if each family brought along some snacks to share to turn it into a pot-luck style event!</div><div><br /></div><div>Over the years, our Community Day has proven a great way to get everyone together late in the summer before the big kick-off to have a bit of fun and mingle with other families in the Celtic community so we're hoping it goes as well as previous years. </div><div><br /></div><div>Best,</div><div>Seattle Celtic and the Seattle Celtic Foundation</div><p></p>
