Workshop Title: Culturally Sensitive Trauma Informed Education Whether you are an aspiring clinician (Graduate or Undergraduate) or have had a practice for decades, this workshop is designed for professionals and students of all levels wishing to gain more understanding of unique challenges that parents and children face when seeking mental health services while the courts are involved. This workshop will be offered on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 from 11am - 2pm PST.  This “Culturally Sensitive Trauma Informed Education” training enhances the professional's ability to look within themselves, the client, and the team for improved mental wellness. Strategies are given to participants for the purpose of improving clients’ coping skills through practical interventions. The training emphasizes the clinician educating themselves on the needs, challenges, and trauma of subcultures. The training encompasses both mental and behavioral health which makes it perfect for a multidisciplinary group of staff. The presentation is not just on race and ethnicity, but it also involves viewing the culture of youth, social-economic levels, gender and gender identity, the culture of families with children with disabilities, and multi-generational trends for a better understanding of those we serve.<div style="text-align:start;text-indent:0px;width:100%;box-sizing:inherit">This workshop will be facilitated by Chad Petties who is a highly accomplished LMFT with over 27 years of experience in managing challenging behaviors and helping individuals with ongoing significant social/emotional skill deficits, and/or mental health needs. Along with working with youth from many cultures and economic backgrounds, Chad also has over 20 years’ experience training and managing adults in the education field. Chad’s years of experience working for school districts, private practice settings, residential programs, group homes and currently Riverside County SELPA office is a tremendous asset to his professional development capabilities. As an Educationally Related Mental Health Case Manager for Riverside County SELPA, Chad specializes in staff development, Educationally Related Mental Health consultation and guidance along with connecting school districts, families, and professionals to community resources. Just in the previous four years, Chad Petties has trained over 3,000 professionals in the area of mental health, coaching and leadership, school behavioral supports, and crisis prevention. Mr. Petties has presented for the Riverside County SELPA symposium the previous two years, also Chad has presented for the past two years at the Region 10 Behavior Conference as the 2023 Behavior Conference closing keynote speaker. Chad will continue to work with mental health professionals, school administrators, school counselors, school psychologist, and teachers to meet the needs of students K-12.</div>All attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance from Life Source Training Institute, Inc. This workshop will also provide any practicum students or Associate clinicians with 3 supplementary or professional development hours needed for licensure under the Board of Behavioral Sciences.  All proceeds will go directly to our non-profit for program services and reduction of mental health service fees for underprivileged communities.
