"Dans le Jardin" In the Garden with the Lafayette Parish Master Gardeners

A Symposium on the Challenges of Gardening, featuring guest speakers Felder Rushing and Allen Owings, along with sessions on raised beds, medicinal plants, home irrigation systems, and general propagation.


Passalong plants and using natives in any yard is a subjectdear to Felder Rushing. Named by Southern Living Magazine as one of "25 people most likely to change the South", he is an 11th generation gardener and author who travels the world in his quest for practical and inspirational home gardening ideas to share. Having authored or contributed to more than 33 books, this NPR radio program host's articles and photographs have been published in national publications including Horticulture and Better Homes and Gardens.


Allen Owings will discuss plant ideas, problems and solutions. Holding an MS in Horticulture from LSU and a PhD in Horticulture from Mississippi State University, Owings worked as the head of LSU AgCenter extension programs providing service to nursery, landscape and garden center professionals. A member of more than 20 horticulture societies, he served in many official capacities including president of the Azalea Society of America - Louisiana chapter.


Sessions on raised beds, medicinal plants, home irrigation systems and general propagation will be presented by Felder Rushing and members of the Lafayette Parish Master Gardeners Association.
