MUSEUM AMBASSADOR
Free
(Select each "ticket" that is an area of interest) Includes giving tours, greeting visitors, gift shop sales, museum cleanup, etc. Great option for local students with an interest in paleontology.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Free
Can include helping with event planning, event fundraising, event set up/tear down, kid's activities, presentations, museum booths, haunted house acting/ design, etc.
MOLDING/CASTING
Free
This can include hands on molding & casting fossils, and 3D Printing.
FOSSIL PREP
Free
Includes training of proper fossil preparation techniques, using tools and lab equipment, micro fossil picking, fossil washing/screening, etc.
COLLECTIONS/CURATION
Free
MARKETING
Free
Can include social media, fundraising, booth management at travel shows/events, and creating marketing strategies.
EDUCATION
Free
Can include public lectures/presentations, children's programing, online science education and online education programming.
EXHIBITS/DISPLAY
Free
Can include making labels, signage for exhibits, exhibit design and curation, creating appealing displays, etc.
OFFICE
Free
Can include finance, tech services, internet security, filing, office organization, etc.
GRANT WRITING
Free
Experience/education necessary. Includes finding and applying to applicable grants. This could be an internship (paid or unpaid) for the right person.
FIELD DIGS
Free
Outdoors. Possible tent camping, hiking, digging, working with tools, jacketing fossils using plaster, manual labor, being in the elements and sometimes inclement weather conditions. Due to the high volume of field volunteers, everyone applying for field digs must volunteer at least 10 hours per month in another area of museum service or they will not be asked to attend fossil digs.
