Join in the tradition of Mardi Gras's first event as royalty of last year in their grand costumes give their symbolic good-byes to the thousands who turn out to see the grand fanfare of costumes and greet the new season. There will be a lively mini parade featuring members of the local Krewes under the direction of Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana. Lake Charles Civic Center 900 Lakeshore Drive Lake Charles, Louisiana. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the event begins at 7:00 PM. The audience has a chance to win grand prizes, dance and hail the kings and queens of more than 60 krewes. Guest in attendance, who find "babies" win lavish grand prizes which will include prizes from local merchants and businesses of Southwest Louisiana.

Saturday is a full day of events including the World-Famous Cajun Extravaganza and Gumbo Cook-off in the exhibition hall of the Lake Charles Event Center, the Children's Mardi Gras Stroll, the Krewe of Omega Parade, and the Krewe of Barkus Parade. The Mardi Gras Children's Day and Parade will take center stage on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. in the exhibition hall of the Event Center all finishing in time for Superbowl Sunday!
