Skipping between London, Shanghai and Hong Kong, this tale of family migration, politics and food has plenty of flavor and fire. Goodbye Chinatown also presents a cautionary tale from Hong Kong for Taiwan, both increasingly falling under China&#39;s power. Jeremy Tiang&#39;s upcoming translation of To the East of the East by Taiwanese writer Ping Lu takes on Taiwanese/Chinese relations in a layered literary thriller by one of Taiwan&#39;s most influential contemporary writers. Kit Fan is an award-winning UK-based novelist, poet and critic, who was born and educated in Hong Kong. His two novels, Diamond Hill (2021) and Goodbye Chinatown (2026) were published by World Editions. His poetry collections and stories have been shortlisted for the T. S. Eliot Prize, Forward Prize, and the Guardian 4th Estate BAME Short Story Prize. He was a winner of the Hong Kong University International Poetry Prize, Northern Writers Awards for Poetry and Fiction, and Times/Stephen Spender Poetry Translation Prize. Jeremy Tiang won the Singapore Literature Prize for his novel State of Emergency and was shortlisted for the same prize for his short story collection It Never Rains on National Day. He has translated over thirty books from Chinese.
