When the newly-freed Israelites encountered the teachings of Jewish tradition at Mount Sinai, they responded that they would act first and then understand, a principle that has evolved into a core tenet of Judaism. What wisdom might this unconventional approach offer us?

In our modern world, in which logic is important, embracing curiosity before seeking rational explanations for new experiences may seem peculiar. However, this mindset can open doors to spiritual connections that might otherwise remain undiscovered.

Rabbi Bridget Wynne will lead an open discussion to explore these ideas.

All are welcome. No experience with Torah or knowledge of Hebrew is necessary.

About the Series

Are you curious about what's in the Torah and whether it might be meaningful to you? While Torah is at the core of Jewish tradition, it can seem intimidating, irrelevant, boring, or even offensive.

Yet, explored from a sophisticated, adult perspective, rather than the literal understanding or children’s Torah stories we may have experienced, the Torah can be a rich source of wisdom for grappling with today’s real-life issues: ethics, family, work, politics, money, justice...

Join us to explore the Torah and relevant commentaries in an open environment in this twice-monthly class led by Rabbi Bridget Wynne. Each session focuses on a specific portion of the text and the relevant issues it addresses. Newcomers of all ages and backgrounds are always welcome. You don't need to be Jewish to draw on Jewish wisdom.

No experience with Torah or knowledge of Hebrew is necessary. 

We meet online twice a month on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, 7:00-9:00 pm PT. The fee per session is $30. Find the dates for the rest of the series here.
