HAIROLOGY IV: a Black Burlesque & Drag introspective about Black Hair & Cultural Appropriation will run for one night only on August 3rd. Building on previous chapters of the Hairology performance art series, Hairology IV focuses on the global politics of anti blackness as it relates to hair, and trends and exploration of cultural hybridity within the black Diaspora globally. This live, multimedia experience features video projections interspersed with live performances by Black NYC drag and burlesque performers, performing cultural commentary and personal reflections about Black hair culture, wrangling with cultural appropriation, and envisioning liberation.Featuring Foxy Belle Afriq, Abby Fantastic, Thee Suburbia, Rain Supreme, Ella Fartzgerald, Ilov Grate and panel moderation and special performance by Gigi Holliday.

About the producer :
Foxy Belle Afriq (she/they) celebrates her East African heritage through burlesque incorporating african and contemporary dance styles in her performances. She has performed at The Brooklyn Museum, WOW Cafe Theater, Joe's Pub, House of Yes and more. Foxy is the producer of BIPOC burlesque and drag shows such as FROLIC : A Black Burlesque Revue, HAIROLOGY, THE FREAK AFFAIR : A Drag King Improv Show and I DRAG YOU NOT - Drag King/Thing show.
