Hi - Thanks for wanting to help us change the world!
We started C-IMPACT to break down the siloes that exist between the various sectors of human services. We want to affect this at the macro level of government policy and regulations, and at the micro level of front-line service providers.
We know the ways shown to help people best are by empowering community-based organizations to collaborate together, across sectors of education, care, physical and mental health, social and public services, and economics so that we are working in a coordinated and holistic way to collectively impact the entire ecosystem in which children, families, and communities exist.
We also know the organizations that are on the frontlines in meeting the needs of their communities are often the most resource constrained, while a select few larger organizations receive the bulk of funding, which allows them to invest in the infrastructure necessary to perpetuate their positions of power. While they are typically not the organizations that most understand and reflect the needs of communities being served, because they are the capacity to continue to secure large-scale funding, it's their voice, their ideas, their projects that get implemented while the vast majority of community-based nonprofits struggle to survive, let alone scale their missions.
Having spent careers working within one of the large institutions, we became convinced the infrastructure, processes, and supports in place for the benefit for those organizations could be replicated to allow smaller to mid-sized non-profits to equitable access
Our strategy to accomplish this is to build coalitions of independent nonprofit organizations to pursue larger scale federal or state grants/contracts as a collaborative to implement collective impact solutions. The idea being together, the coalition would have greater opportunity to identify, respond, and implement on these RFPs than any of the organizations can do individually at their size.
This donation will help a lot to achieve our mission. We'll be able to :
- Support ... families
- Power medical research by ...
- Change the world
- Hire necessary staff to enact the model
- Expand our collaborative beyond the current 13, Maryland-based nonprofits to any mission aligned organization, anywhere in the country
- Build out key operational infrastructure
- Enable cash liquidity necessary to support personnel on grant-based funding when awaiting invoice payments
- Begin developing rainy day reserves
- Establish a 10% community investment fund – enabling C-IMPACT to target resources into other nonprofit organizations in need
- And critically it gives us a three-year runway of operating expenses – and with that security we can have an affiliation with an established larger institution – several universities are willing to partner with us, but we need to bring money to the table to show we won’t be a drain on their budget. We need to leverage their established infrastructure to submit the grants that enable funding sustainability. With this – we can be financially profitable by year 1; assuming we put the right infrastructure in place.
