Meet and tour with Darek Trowbridge, proprietor, entrepreneur and Biomass Symposium panelist. Learn about and see the Soil Carbon Management pilot composting site and farm. Thursday, May 2nd: Northern Tour (11:00am-3:00pm) ● Lunch ● Pre-Symposium Social and Networking (4:00-6:00pm) ● Description: Get to know the Potter Valley Tribe Forest Health Project (17900 Eel River Road Potter Valley CA 95469). Join us on the Eel River near Potter Valley to learn about the Potter Valley Tribe’s practices of stewarding forest land and creating biochar. See and learn the processes of biomass from forest thinning turned into biochar in kilns (full demonstration dependent on weather). End the day with a reception at the Thatcher Hotel in Hopland (13401 US-101, Hopland, CA 95449).

Friday, May 3rd: Symposium (8:00am-5:00pm) ● Lunch ● Description: The 2024 Biomass Utilization Symposium will bring together industry, academia, government and community-based organizations to explore the opportunities and challenges of implementing forest biomass utilization projects for fire safety, forest health, renewable energy, wood products, and sustainable, stewardship-based, inclusive, rural economic development (UCANR Hopland Research and Extension Center, Shippey Hall, 4070 University Road, Hopland, CA 95449).
