Join the Howard University Alumni Club of Greater Philadelphia for a pre-screening of The Color Purple, starring Howard‘s own Taraji P Henson! The event will take place on Sunday, December 10, 2023. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit future community events and scholarships. Doors open at 3:00 PM, and the screening will begin at 3:30  PM. It is the second film adaptation of the novel, following the 1985 film directed by Steven Spielberg. Spielberg and Quincy Jones return to produce this version, along with the stage musical's producers Scott Sanders and Oprah Winfrey, the latter of whom also starred in the 1985 film as Sofia.
