These events bring communities together for food, drinks, raffles, games and entertainment, all while fundraising for something meaningful.  SVFD is an barely funded, rural, 100% Volunteer Fire Department. SVFD provides fire, rescue & non-transport BLS EMS services to the unincorporated communities of Belton, Texas. SVFD serves as the first due mutual-aid department to three municipal departments & another volunteer department. The vast majority of SVFD responses include structure fires, wildland/urban interface response, traffic accidents & medical emergencies. The SVFD response district consists of communities that are ever-growing & expanding. SVFD's mission is to ensure that we, as a department, are growing with the communities in our district; to provide top tier emergency response to the citizens who are forced to have an inherent trust in our personnel, capability, efficiency, reliability, knowledge & our equipment. SVFD is forced to have the unique ability to respond to emergencies in both rural & dense urban communities, as well as areas consisting of dense vegetation, brush & wildlife. As a volunteer department, we face many challenges when attempting to ensure that we meet the demand of the communities we serve. SVFD faces many challenges obtaining equipment to meet those demands due to the rising equipment costs & lack of funding for VFDs in our area.  SVFD is one of two volunteer departments in our county that provides, at a minimum, a staffed engine around the clock to ensure efficient response & maintain an average response time of 4-6 minutes from dispatch to arrival on scene. The SVFD station currently has no running water, no bathrooms, and no temperature-controlled environments. Despite the inconvenience of all those things, our members still willingly staff our station to ensure an immediate response to calls for service because it is of the upmost importance to our firefighters that when called upon by our community, against all odds, we are available to respond. SVFD prides itself on its desire to provide top-tier emergency responses to our communities. SVFD is a part of a 911 system that dispatches nine other volunteer fire agencies & 7 paid agencies. SVFD prides itself on its desire to perform at the same level as our paid counterparts because the residents in our communities expect the same treatment received by those residing in municipalities.
