Dominique Bayart's eclectic body of work comes from more than forty years working in the arts. She started in 1980 as an airbrush artist and co-founded a screen-printing company, DB2002, which specialized in architectural and promotional graphics for major department stores, the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, architects and designers. In 1989 she shifted her focus to furniture, co-founding Bayart and Rae Furniture, which designed and produced unique contemporary pieces of furniture and lighting for residential and commercial environments. Bayart and Rae Furniture was featured on the cover of Focus Magazine as "industrial chic," and was represented in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago by Randolph and Hein, Agnes Bourne in San Francisco, and the Bradbury Collection in Los Angeles. Since 1997 Dominique Bayart has devoted full time to monotype printing and painting. She brings to that work her understating of color developed as a screen printer, and her sense of geometrical shape and form she honed as a furniture designer. She works quickly and instinctively; this was imperative in the monotype medium and gives her oils their passion and spark. Dominique Bayart studied monotype at the Fort Mason print studios and was awarded an artist in residence term at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley. Her piece, "International Heart" was featured in the first "Hearts of San Francisco" exhibition and was acquired by the Monterey Community Hospital. She was selected to participate in the exchange exhibition, "Americans in Paris" by the USA-Paris Art Exchange. She has been represented by, and exhibited at, The Simmons Gallery, Mina Dresden Gallery and Trace Gallery in San Francisco; CFA Gallery in San Rafael; Pieces Gallery in Healdsburg, and Riverfront Art Gallery in Petaluma. Her work was shown in numerous group exhibitions in Petaluma, San Francisco, San Anselmo, Berkeley, San Jose, Alameda and Paris. More recently, she has been showing her work at her studio on Sonoma Mountain, above Penngrove.
