TAYP NYC | Screening of "Take My Breath /المابين" by Nada Mezni Hafaiedh

The New York chapter of the Tunisian-American Young Professionals network is excited to bring to you "Take My Breath," a Tunisian movie written and directed by Nada Mezni Hafaiedh, at the Brick Aux on September 29, 2024 from 3 PM to 5 PM followed by an optional networking hour for the attendees to gather and connect from 5 PM to 6 PM. All proceeds go to paying for the screening costs and helping the New York Chapter of the Tunisian-American Young Professionals (TAYP) expand and bring more of Tunisia to you.

Film Synopsis

Deprived of the right to exist, shunned by love, and rejected by societal norms and expectations, 23-year-old Shams must live in the shadows, concealed by secrecy and unimaginable pain. Fearing shame and derision, Shams's mother never registered them publicly due to them being born with both genitalia.When Shams’ intersex identity is exposed, the young seamstress’ tranquil life unravels. Engaged in a steamy love triangle and targeted by an obsessive attacker, they escape to the capital city. Taking refuge with their lover’s mystic cousin, they grapple with their complex sense of self. This evocative tale explores the clash between desire and identity.
