Note: This practice is for confirmed SGC members who have: been attending for at least 3 months, attended a minimum of 8 events, gone through a confirmation ceremony, submitted a health and safety questionnaire and waiver and done an intake interview.
All participants who will be joining this Sacred Garden Meditation for the first time will also be required to engage some Navigation/Preparation by attending a Zoom meeting on Friday March 17th at 5PM (on the SGC Sunday Service Zoom link).
We hope you can join us on Sunday (March 19th - 2:00-6:00 pm) for a Redwood Meditation in the Oakland Hills.
Please RSVP by registering here once you have completed your health and safety questionnaire, waiver and your intake interview.
The suggested donation for practice is $125. If you would like to contribute more, this allows us to continue to offer these meditations with the spirit of inclusivity; to value each other's presence regardless of their financial situation. If $125 feels like a lot of money for you, we encourage you to come anyway and donate what you can, please contact Sara at sara@sacredgarden.life. She will create a discount ticket for whatever you feel you can contribute.
If it's not raining this event will be held outdoors so remember to dress in layers.

Preparation - Setting and Expectations
***Please bring: a pipe with a screen, comfortable shoes, drinking water, a bag you can walk with (we'll hike 2 miles (each way) into the redwoods), and snacks to share afterwards***
- The meditation itself may last about an hour - this is the shorter redwood meditation. More information on the specific sacrament will be provided at the navigation/preparation meeting
- The entire event (meeting / preparing, walking in, practicing, integrating, walking out) will likely take about 4 hours.
- You're also welcome to bring any other objects for your meditation, a small blanket to sit on, meditation shawl, anything like that.
- Note: This will be a platonic ceremony - in part this means I am asking that every participant avoids engaging in sexual behavior during ceremony or while in group presence; and that we avoid romantic overtures or "picking up" each other during or after ceremony. We will discuss safety, boundaries and consent further during pre-preparation.
Preparation - other, Set, Soul, Body:
- Please consider intentions for this meditation and be prepared to share with the group
- Avoid mentally / spiritually disturbing engagements before and after Ceremony (e.g., recommended to avoid political arguments on Facebook, violent movie or TV programming, etc.
- A broad goal is to bring a quiet mind with clear intentions and least distractions to the ceremony and for integration after.
- Please discuss with the facilitator prior to engaging this meditation if you have had a substantial assisted meditation within the last 2 weeks or if you are planning an assisted meditation within two weeks after this group ceremony.
Pre-Diet:
There can be varying degrees of dietary preparation for an experience. The particular meditation we will engage is remarkably safe biologically and does not require special dietary preparation. In general, the "clearer" your body and energy are, the more aligned and able it will be to fully experience the energy that is opened by the forms of deep meditation we will engage. Sacred Garden community recommends eating lightly the evening before and day of any practice. Some traditional diets or “dietas” are more about preparing in subtle mental or spiritual ways rather than about specific physical contraindications.
So grateful for the opportunity to sit with such a loving and active group. May the time we spend together bring us closer to that which is real, to the divine, to opening us to healing, so we may move and guide from a place that is healing, healed and loving.
Please direct any questions at the facilitator for this sit, Bob (bob@sacredgarden.life)
