District 23 will be holding a free field mechanics clinic September 29, 2024, 9am-1pm at Chino National Little League. 4250 Chino Ave, Chino, CA 91710, USA - Rain or Shine! If you have a high school ballplayer in the family, baseball or softball, help them lay the foundation of a great part-time job that can support them through high school, college, and beyond! Working as an umpire can make your son or daughter a better player with improved pitch recognition and tracking, deeper rules knowledge to expand their baseball instincts, as well as understanding what umpires are looking for when making calls. Umpiring builds confidence and character, prepares them for real life work environments, and it helps them learn how deal with and handle stressful situations! It's a great part-time gig for adults too! The instructors have of thousands of games combined experience, including Little League State and Regional Tournaments, Highschool, College, and Professional Baseball.  We will be covering:Proper call mechanics. Plate positioning and calling balls and strikes. Call position, ball tracking, and timing. Working as the solo umpire. 2-umpire positioning, responsibilities and rotations. Interference, obstruction, and out of baseline demonstrations. Handling situations.  Wear umpire attire if you have it, otherwise wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in.
