This event will be open to the public and benefit the community by bringing awareness to an art form that is not as prevalent. There are several conferences available for poets all over the country. Evoke is unique in the sense that it provides an open registration for all womxn who are looking for means to improve their craft. The conference entails both writing and performance workshops, yoga, meditation, and side events like book swaps, bonfire, and open mics to share what was written. This event is important because it provides a space that is limited to womxn poets. We have endured a harsh history of womxn continually being silenced and not being able to share their story. Shasparay- SITuational Poetry Workshop Situational Poetry workshop: In this workshop, poets work on sit-poems derived from the term situational-comedy (sit-coms).  Coined by Shasparay to describe her own work, this workshop will focus on one moment in the poet's experience and package that moment into a poem. Ebony Stewart- Selfcare for the vulnerable artist WorkshopSpoken-word artists often channel raw emotion and personal experiences into powerful performances, leaving them vulnerable to emotional fatigue and artistic exploitation. This workshop is designed to help spoken-word artists care for themselves while nurturing their creative voices. Through personal narrative, reflective questioning that encourages critical thinking, and open discussion, participants will explore ways to protect their mental and emotional well-being in the face of intense performance demands.We’ll address common challenges such as understanding the difference between expressing pain/trauma vs. art and exploitation, stage anxiety, emotional exhaustion, best practices for performing emotionally charged material in an authentic manner that does not re-injure the artist, choosing when to share and when to heal, and how to be honest to be honest and vulnerable while being gentle/careful with yourself. Participants will leave with practical tools to build integrity, embrace vulnerability as a source of strength, and maintain a healthy balance between performance and personal care. Masterpiece- Market your Truth Workshop The poetry workshop on marketing and branding aims to equip poets with essential tools for growing their audience and enhancing their social media presence.
