Matthew Torgersen is a bright, athletic 18 year old Georgetown native. The youngest of 3 boys, Matthew was scheduled to attend UNH as a freshman this September. A pain in his shoulder, which he attributed to overuse on the basketball court, brought him to his pediatrician. It was there, much to everyone's shock, the doctors detected a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer called Osteosarcoma.The next 10 months will be a long and arduous road for the Torgersen family. Matthew is scheduled for 29 weeks of chemotherapy, a reverse shoulder replacement and bone resectioning. Even with insurance, the out of pocket expenses are tremendous. Please join us for an exciting night of amateur boxing to benefit Matty's battle against Osteosarcoma. All proceeds will be donated to the Torgersen family. The love and generosity of friends, family and community has been overwhelming. Let's continue to show Matty and his family that no one fights alone!
