She has been honored by the community for her extensive efforts and contributions to the art of Flamenco, and her dedication to her many students.</div><div><br /></div><div>She currently teaches at LaVie dance studio on W. Morena Blvd.</div><p style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px"><br /></p><div><strong><u>Lakshmi Basile</u> "La Chimi:</strong> </div><div><br /><div>“La Chimi” began teaching flamenco adjacent to traveling the world as a flamenco performer in 2004. She gave master classes in various countries, including Spain, primarily to aspiring professional flamenco dancers. In Spain she was sought out in particular by dancers who wanted guidance on understanding how the Cante (Song) is integrated in the improvisational aspect of Flamenco dance. “La Chimi” is now based in San Diego and teaches at three different studios; <strong>Dorothea Laub Dance Place</strong>, <strong>Movement by La Vie</strong> and <strong>La Chimi Flamenco</strong>.
