Do you want to own a piece of museum history? Of course you do! As you may know, the museum is undergoing a major renovation project and that means our nose art exhibit banners have come down.
To help with the costs of making new nose art displays and other improvements, we are auctioning off 45 images of the planes, and their fates, from the old banners. These one-of-a-kind slices of museum history will be auctioned off individually. Printed on high quality vinyl, these are images of the nose art of different planes that flew with the 390th, as well as a legend indicating the fate of each plane.
Please be aware that the individual sections of the banners have some fading from over the years. Minor imperfections will be expected. The banner items have been rough cut and will require trimming to your own preferences.
Bidding will be open from October 1st and closing on December 1st, beginning at midnight Tucson time. Minimum bid for these items will be $500 for standard sizes, and $400 for the smaller pieces. We'll do our best to get winners their items before the end of the year, but delays may occur.
Some of the banner portions up for auction include: Stork Club, Yankee-Doodle-Dandy and Liberty Belle.
*All banners are relatively square but sizes are estimates only.
