Indigo is an incredible plant that yields blue dye. We have been growing our own patch of Japanese indigo on the farm this year, and are excited to share the process of creating indigo pigment directly from the source! This multi-stage process will be condensed down for easy understanding. We will also explore how to use fresh indigo leaves to make immediate turquoise dyes, and make a pre-reduced indigo vat to use for our deep, rich blues. We will also be using various techniques to bind fabrics to create patterns. Hi! I we are so excited that you&#39;ll be joining us for this in-depth dye class covering Indigo on September 7, 2025. We will be outside the entire time.&nbsp; A few notes about the farm and the class itself: +Please wear clothing and shoes that can be in a outdoor art studio! We may get messy.+Please bring water and a snack if you think you&#39;ll want one!+Our classes are intended to be accessible, but it should be known that our outdoor classroom area has uneven ground.&nbsp;+We have picnic table style seating already, and welcome you to bring your own chair if you would like.+Please bring something to dye! We will provide cotton napkin blanks for you to experiment with, but feel free to bring a few other 100% natural fiber items to dye.
