Ann&#39;s Backyard Forest is supporting the participation of one scientist for the Breaking Boundaries February - March 2026 expedition in Antarctica. Contributions to this raffle support groundbreaking research conducted by an international team of women! Research topics include mammal behavior, eDNA, water quality, and plenty of penguins!&nbsp;&nbsp;In February 2026, Sea Women Expeditions will conduct a 24-day, women-led research journey to the Southern Ocean and Antarctica. The international team of Indigenous and non-Indigenous women, non-binary, and gender-diverse scientists, artists, and communicators will collect critical environmental data to contribute to UN initiatives, update evidence, and generate data to inform global policy across seven remote polar regions.&nbsp;&nbsp;This work matters. Who conducts research shapes the questions asked, the data collected, who can contribute, and the analysis and interpretation. This expedition is reimagining the role of women in extreme environments. Sharing the experience in real time across classrooms around the globe will shift how women-led enterprises are perceived. Our expedition will build evidence, inform policy, and educate the next generation.&nbsp;&nbsp;Your contribution will support physical and social science research on myriad topics, including microbial communities in the water column, leadership theory supporting team collaboration, visual storytelling techniques for evidence sharing, sea mammal behavior, penguin colony dynamics, and conducting soil sampling.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ann&rsquo;s Backyard Forest, Ltd. a US-based 501(c)3 organization founded in 2013, has a STEAM research, education, and science communication mission.
