(Known as “AWT” for short) is a Federally designated 501(c)3 Non-Profit registered in the State of North Carolina. We’re based here in Swain County. We are a 100% Veteran-Founded &amp; Veteran-Led Organization guided by distinguished Military Veterans and Indigenous Tribal Leaders. Our Board Advisors include Medical Professionals, Technology Experts, Outdoor Recreation Leaders, and more. Here’s how we started… In 2024, a small group of Local Military Veterans and Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian (EBCI) Tribal Leaders noticed a significant gap in Military Veteran support in the Southern Appalachian Region.… From 2024 to 2025, our group achieved significant impacts by assisting local Military Veterans in gaining previously unrealized Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) benefits, enhancing access to medical care, providing vocational and career assistance, supporting Veteran entrepreneurs, and promoting patriotic events.… In 2025, we conducted a 250th Marine Corps Birthday Celebration and Veterans Day Dinner. We were all amazed at the patriotic outpouring of support from our local community, so we formally organized the Appalachian Warrior Tribe (AWT) as a Federally designated 501(c)3 Non-Profit (Not-For-Profit) organization based in Swain County, NC. Richie has deep knowledge and expertise of indigenous culture, extensive leadership experience, and a proven track record of community service. AWT operations are led by Marine Corps Veteran, Mr. Sean Parrish, a Southern Appalachian Native and Swain County Resident. Sean has a proven track record of success in creating, designing, and executing Veteran Support Initiatives across the globe. AWT administrative matters are led by Mr. Gerry Laschober, a Swain County Resident &amp; Navy Veteran. Gerry is the Founder/Owner of Coopers Creek Trout Farm and a former Founder/Owner of multiple Inc 500 companies. Gerry’s organizational acumen &amp; business skills keep AWT operating smoothly and effectively. We’ve got a long list of great Board Advisors, amazing Volunteers, and more. We’ve got a small digital footprint right now, but we hope to change that as word of mouth spreads and more folks want to get involved.
