RaGa Club is proud to present Hearing &amp; Listening: Experiencing the Arts Beyond Sound Hearing &amp; Listening, developed by young artists Rishabh Kaushik and Nivritti Mahesh, explores how Indian classical music and dance can be experienced beyond sound. Bringing together Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam, accessibility, and technology, the initiative asks a central question: Can we experience music and dance not only by hearing them, but also by seeing, feeling, and understanding them? The presentation will be offered in two parts. Part One &ndash; Rishabh Kaushik: Making Music MultisensoryRishabh will present and demonstrate his approach to creating a multisensory concert experience, including cymatics that transform sound frequencies into visible patterns, sign language, subtitles and meaning, movement, storytelling, and other sensory approaches. He will discuss how these tools can help make Indian classical music more accessible to Deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences, as well as those who may experience barriers of language or musical familiarity. Part Two &ndash; Nivritti Mahesh: Making Dance AccessibleNivritti, a Bharatanatyam dancer and bilateral cochlear implant recipient, will demonstrate how she uses assistive technologies to experience rhythm, music, and movement as a dancer. She will also explore how these technologies and adaptations can extend beyond the performer to make dance more accessible and engaging for audiences with hearing challenges. Together, Rishabh and Nivritti demonstrate how art, technology, and lived experience can come together to create performances that are designed to be experienced through multiple senses.
