Saxophonist Bradford Hayes returns with his trio on organ and drums, featuring the vocal stylings of Lynette Sheard. Bradford Hayes, a native of Dinwiddie County, Virginia, has performed at Birdland, Tavern on the Green and the Beacon Theater, and has played or recorded with artists including Yusef Lateef, Jimmy Heath, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jerry Butler and The Dells. He spent 15 years with Babatunde Olatunji’s Drums of Passion, the last three as Musical Director, and performed with Olatunji at Yankee Stadium during Nelson Mandela’s first visit to the United States after his release from prison. He also spent 30 years teaching music in the Newark Public Schools. This is our 13th Jazz Vespers, a Bethel tradition that paused only once, during Covid. A reception will follow the concert. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance here. A limited number will be available at the door. All proceeds support the 2027 Women’s Day at Bethel AME Church. Questions?
