With the recent election, and the civil tension currently in our communities, there is a rising collective attitude of participatory action, and a clear directive that institutions are falling behind on the needs of the people they serve, so we couldn't imagine a better time to offer another Building Moral Courage for Health Professionals workshop - happening Saturday, April 5th. Additional time has been added to the workshop to allow for deeper discussion, more generous break times to meet other participants, and more creative engagement with content. There will be a generous lunch break during the workshop! Workshop Description:Despite institutional efforts to support health professionals in recognizing and mitigating social and structural determinants of health, many health professionals carry a profound sense of fear and powerlessness around engaging in advocacy within their profession that leaves them overwhelmed and contributes to burnout.Building Moral Courage for Health Professionals is a workshop designed for health professionals (care providers, students and trainees, medical and research support staff, administrative personnel, or other healthcare system workers) who are interested in advocating for positive social change within their profession. This workshop will give participants a greater understanding of change making strategies and offers tools that support interprofessional health workers in shifting out of a perception of powerlessness to become activated and empowered agents of change.Integrating multiple styles of learning, this interactive half-day workshop will incorporate elements of experiential learning, narrative exercise, small group activity, discussion, and somatic experiencing. in order to explore the ways institutions form and sustain traditional models of power. Ultimately, participants will be provided practical tools to build moral courage for individual and collective leadership.
