Exploratory Art Workshops for ages 4 - 12, 10am - 11am

Do you have a child bursting with creative ideas? Always asking for some random material to make something with? This class is for them! Exploratory art is an educational and creative approach that prioritizes the process of making art over the final product. It emphasizes experimentation, and personal expression, allowing artists to test different materials, textures, and ideas without the pressure of achieving a "perfect" masterpiece.

Each week offers new materials to explore that expands creativity, fine motor skills, and artistic confidence in a fun and supportive environment. Students will also be introduced to famous artists, and their work and stories.

Corrie Guddemi is an experienced artist and arts educator with a BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University and additional fine arts study in Florence, Italy. She has taught children from preschool through young adulthood, including individualized instruction for autistic students (Pre-K–21). Wild Stories is a Creative Writing workshop designed and taught by Essra Paddock to help young writers discover their unique voices through imagination, storytelling, music, and community. Essra helps students explore the building blocks of story, theme and dialogue, while creating their own original writing. Students will experiment with writing prompts, story cubes, music for inspiration, editing practice, and occasional collaborations on stories that grow from one writer to another. This workshop focuses on creativity and the joy of storytelling. Writers of all experience levels are welcome in this supportive and encouraging environment.

Writing expectations will meet each child where they are. Students will learn editing and revision skills but the primary focus is on fostering imagination, confidence, and a lifelong love of writing.
